Course Titles and Descriptions
SCIE-2700 – Reason, Faith, and Algorithm (Science and Religion) – This course will explore the dynamic, centuries-old dialogue between science and faith through a uniquely structured, three-dimensional format. Each session centers on a provocative yet respectful boundary topic, introduced via a high-stakes panel consisting of Dr. Verani representing empirical data, Dr. Cappucci representing faith and metaphysical truth, and a silent, text-based Artificial Intelligence agent (Claude, CoPilot or Gemini), projected on-screen representing algorithmic logic and synthesized human knowledge.
COMP-3056 – Cyber-Ethics – This course will examine key challenges and topics related to ethics and societal change in the digital age, focusing on how law, morality, and public policy influence and are influenced by digital technologies. Students will be critically assessing issues surrounding, but not limited to, free speech, property rights (particularly intellectual property), privacy, security, and artificial intelligence. Students will be expected to demonstrate understanding of ethical digital stewardship, Indigenous digital sovereignty, and the importance of respecting cultural values in technology design. Students will analyze ethical issues raised by theorists, policy makers, legal experts, Indigenous scholars, and computer scientists to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of cyber ethics in today’s society.
