Reflecting upon the Graduate Program in Catholic Studies at Assumption University I am grateful for the experience. It has provided me with a better understanding of my Catholic faith personally and professionally. As an Elementary Catholic school teacher it is important to accurately share the tenets of our faith with students in my care. The Catholic Studies Program ignited my passion to examine and strengthen the home, school, and parish relationship in my work.
The online format worked really well for me as a full-time teacher, wife, and mother. I found it very valuable to learn more about the history and traditions of the church. I appreciated the opportunity to learn about other faiths in relation to Christianity. This is so important, especially in the current climate of extremism. Dialogue and understanding is the only way to create a peaceful world and this was an integral part of the program at Assumption. Additionally, the courses and foundational knowledge assists me in my new leadership position in my Board as a Religion, Family Life, and Faith Formation Support Teacher.
The comprehensive course content and the commitment of Dr. John Cappucci and his staff at Assumption University has been outstanding. Even though I have completed the program they continue to support my growth in Religious Education, for which I am truly thankful. The seeds of discernment were planted at Assumption and continue to grow as I work towards my Masters of Theology. – Kate Dobson
