Learn for Life

The Learn for Life program was founded in 2016 in order to provide educational opportunities to diverse audiences while promoting Assumption University’s mission. The program is Assumption University’s way of giving back to a community that has provided over 164 years of friendship and support. The program offers courses on a range of subjects from religion and theology to history and politics to ethics. The courses are designed for those interested in learning for the sake of learning. Past courses have included, Women and ReligionReligion and PoliticsThree Faiths, One EthicSunni, Shia, Sufi, and Rome and Jerusalem: Catholic-Jewish Relations. The newest course will be announced in the summer of 2021.

Rome and Jerusalem: Catholic-Jewish Relations II – Dr. John Cappucci

This course will explore the relationship between Catholics and Jews from the eighteenth century to the contemporary era. Topics will include the Jewish Enlightenment, the Montara affair, Pius XII, the Holocaust, the Second Vatican Council, and the interfaith initiatives under John Paul II

Learn For Life Policies

The Learn for Life program was founded in 2016 in order to provide educational opportunities to diverse audiences while promoting Assumption University’s mission. The program offers courses on a range of subjects from religion and theology to history and politics to health and ethics. The courses are designed for those interested in learning for the sake of learning.

Courses
The Learn for Life courses are typically offered between September and June annually. The courses may be offered in one day session or over the course of a few weeks.

Instructors
The courses are taught by qualified instructors with graduate-level credentials.

Class Size
In order for a class to proceed, it is required that a minimum of six students enroll.

Certificates
At the end of each course, students will be presented with a certificate of completion signed by instructor, principal of Assumption University and/or senior administrator.

Auditing
Given that Learn for Life courses are not for credit, auditing is not possible.

Registration
Students must register for Learn for Life courses at least one week prior to the start date of each course. Early registration is welcome and encouraged.

Payment
Payment in full must be received by Assumption University one week prior to the start of each course. Please note that payment will not be accepted on the first day of class.

Refunds
Refunds can only be requested before the course has begun. After the course has begun, no refunds will be issued. For all refunds, a $20.00 administrative fee will be charged.
